DDeacon Ministry is to assist the pastoral staff by ministering to the congregation in ways that build unity and enhance spiritual growth and fellowship.

The Task

In accordance with the meaning of the work and the practice in the New Testament, Deacons are to be servants of the church. Their task is to serve with the Senior Pastor and the Ministerial Staff in performing the pastoral ministries of:

  • leading the church in the achievement of its mission;
  • proclaiming the gospel to believers and unbelievers; and
  • caring for the church’s members and other persons in the community.
  • Oversee the policies and procedures of the church in accord with the Pastor and Executive Pastor.

Expectations

Widow/Widower Ministry: To fulfill the Biblical obligation of a Deacon in taking care of Church members who are widowed.

Lord's Supper: Participate in the preparation, serving and observance of the ordinance of Communion.

Baptism: Assist Pastors in the ordinance of Baptism.

Hospital Visitation: Assist the staff on weekends, as needed, by making hospital or other ministry visits.

Visitation/Outreach: To support the staff and outreach of the church by participating in the church’s visitation program.
